Course Descriptions

The Humanities program joins those disciplines whose special province is the study of mankind and its artifacts. Including English, Foreign Language, and Social Studies, Humanities enables students to understand and develop their own ideas about human life and their place in it. Through a rich curriculum combining both theoretical and hands-on learning, students develop facility in analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating human experience. Additionally, the Humanities provides students the tools and options they need to express themselves.

As an interdisciplinary field, Fine/Applied Arts focuses on the broader issues involved in effective adult living. It includes the following disciplines: Business, Art, Music Drama, Life Management, P.E./Health, Special Education, and the STEP program. Through study of diverse content which ranges from healthy eating and living habits to how one functions within our society's economic system, to self-expression through artistic endeavors, students prepare for life after high school by learning skills that will enhance their lives regardless of their post-graduation plans.

The Technology program develops student perceptions and knowledge of modern day technology. The program provides a basis for informed attitudes about the interrelationships of technology, society, and the environment. Students will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art equipment to pursue their study. Although students explore courses in Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (Industrial Technology and Computer Education), the interrelatedness of these disciplines will be stressed. In the future, interdisciplinary courses will be offered to help students make connections among the disciplines in the Technology Program.
