The 2005 edition of Stonington High School's Pawmystonian yearbook was recognized as outstanding by the American Scholastic Press Association. The all-color book, whose theme was From Blueprints to Footprints, earned an award for First Place with Special Merit and a second award for Outstanding Overall Photography, with special credit to Augie Cary and Chris Culotta. The judge stated: "You have an excellent publication, enhanced by excellent photography." and went on to add: "Your yearbook is one of the most outstanding publications seen by this judge. There is very little criticism or advice that I can offer. I would hope, however, that you share your expertise with the other schools in your area, so that they, too, may achieve the highest standards of quality you have already attained." The edition earned 940 points out of a possible 1000. Perfect scores were earned in the categories of General Page Design and Creativity. This same book was selected, before it was even completed, as a sample yearbook to be showcased by Jostens to the northeastern region of the country. Bob Sasena, Jostens Eastern Connecticut sales representative, said he chose Stonington's upcoming yearbook because of the detailed and professional appearance of the publication over the past five years. The yearbook's advisor is Mrs. Rustici, who has held the position since 1996. The informals section of the 2005 book was featured in Jostens' Gotcha Covered Look Book. Congratulations to Katelynn Gregory, Kim Johnston, and Michelle Penfold who designed that section.
